Fall Happenings in D.C.

There’s plenty to do in the fall, no matter where you’re located in D.C. Finding fun fall events is a great excuse to get out and explore the neighborhood. Set aside some extra time to check out these season-specific attractions:

Adams Morgan Day

Adams Morgan Day as one of the best Fall events in D.C.

Eighteenth Street in the Adams Morgan neighborhood is known throughout D.C. for lively nightlife that melds perfectly with its quirky street art, rows of red brick artisanal shops, and late-night bistros.

The second Sunday in September is Adams Morgan Day, designated to celebrate the neighborhood’s cultural diversity with music, food, cultural demonstrations, and dance workshops.

This festival has been an integral part of the community for more than 40 years. It’s an educational resource for the district to learn more about its residents, businesses, service organizations, and artists.

Many of the Adams Morgan Day activities and events are within close proximity of the Rodney and Lamont apartment communities.

DowntownDC Dine Out

Some of the district’s most dynamic and innovative restaurants showcase their culinary talent each fall during the DowntownDC Dine Out. Many eateries along 8th Street N.W., between H and K streets, offer charming outdoor table service with a menu of unique seasonal favorites.

Reservations are required for this weekends-only event beginning September 25.

Participating restaurants include Olivia, Cranes, Modena, and Cuba Libre. The Phoenix apartments are about a 15-minute drive away, so residents can easily participate in this yearly event.

Mount Vernon Fall Harvest Days

The Mount Vernon Estate hosts a busy weekend of fall-themed events and demonstrations from the 18th century, beginning October 23. It’s fun to learn about the old ways of life, including beer-making and spinning demonstrations, and the hay maze is always a popular attraction. It’s a great time of year to learn more about our nation’s first president by touring his home, farm, distillery, and gardens.

Concerts at Capital One Arena

Several musical acts perform at the Capital One Arena throughout D.C.’s crisp autumn months. Acts run the gamut of music genres, including country, pop, and R&B. This fall’s top shows are:

  • Carrie Underwood – October 4
  • Post Malone – October 12
  • The Chainsmokers – October 15

The shows start at 7 p.m. It’s a great idea to buy your tickets online to beat the rush and get good seats. Those who live at the Circle Arms apartments are a 10-minute drive away or a 20-minute walk.

Wunder Garten Oktoberfest Celebration

The 6th annual Oktoberfest at Wunder Garten runs through October 18, offering all types of Bavarian and German beers and dishes. Pig roasts, a doggie beauty contest, and live entertainment are only the start of the fun, which happens every weekend in October.

Wunder Garten is located at 1101 First Street NE, about a 20-minute drive from The Rodman Apartments.

Down in the Reeds

Down in the Reeds

Down in the Reeds is a day-long music festival on October 9. This festival hopes to focus the healing power of music on the D.C. community as it spotlights local music and artists. There’s also a smattering of music and art workshops, community activism, and musical historical exhibits.

The festival happens at The Parks at Walter Reed, 1010 Butternut St NW, approximately a 17-minute drive from the Connecticut House Apartments.

Taste and Shop Georgetown

As many as 35 of D.C.’s most praised eateries showcase their finest dishes and paired wines for the Taste and Shop Georgetown event from October 5-25. Live music, more than 65 participating shops, and family-friendly activities round out this annual autumn event. Let the kids explore the world of balloon artists, caricature drawings, and jugglers while you sample the many divine dishes for an out-of-the-ordinary autumn afternoon.

The top chefs in the area put their skills to the test at the chef showdown, where their dishes are judged for best use of seasonal ingredients, best overall dish, and best way to satiate a sweet tooth. All this fun is a short walk from the Circle Arms apartments and only a 25-minute walk from The Archer apartments.
