The Connecticut House

"My partner and I have lived here for three months, and we love it so far. We came from an English basement in Bloomingdale, so first: love the WINDOWS. Second, love the dishwasher. Love the reasonable rent, the cat-friendly policy, the space, and even the building itself, with its charmingly outdated decor. I read all the reviews I could find on this place before moving in and took a chance - it's truly great so far. No bugs (not even one! In three months! I hate bugs, so this is important for me... have not seen even an ant). The neighborhood is wonderful, with a number of cute restaurants nearby, and the grocery store and metro super close. Definitely give this place a shot."

"I lived in Connecticut House for a little over a year. My experience was overwhelmingly positive. Community/facility: The building is very "warm", with very bright hallways and nice neighbors. A good amount of the residents have been there for a while, so there is a palpable sense of community. The elevators are decent, and there's a freight elevator in the back too. Staff: The staff (starting with Juan the building manager, and others) is very approachable and any issues with my apartment were resolved quickly. There's always someone at the front desk, so packages aren't a worry. Unit: The building itself is older, so you get the standard issues you'd get with a building that old (i.e., minor plumbing issues), but that is par for the course. My 1BR was about 800+ sq ft, with plenty of closet space, so if you have a cat or two*, plenty of places for a litter box. *Pets: Speaking of pets, the building is cat-friendly. Dogs aren't technically allowed (some of the apartment sites say it is, but that's not accurate.) The only reason I moved is because I got a dog. Oh well. Location: A few blocks from the Metro. There are several really nice restaurants close to the building, as well as some decent ones, and markets as well. There's two Farmer's markets within minutes on weekends if you're into that sort of thing. All in all, my experience at CH was a pleasant one. Highly recommended. "

"We moved into Connecticut House in March, 2020. We chose this particular apartment complex for many reasons. First, the closet space is unbelievable for a big city like D.C. We looked at many apartments before deciding on Connecticut House, and none of them had even close to what this apartment has when it comes to closet space. Second, the spaciousness of the bedrooms and living room are hard to find, especially for the rent amount. The bathrooms and kitchen are a bit small, but the size of the living room and bedrooms make up for that! Third, the parquet hardwood floors are really nice and very well maintained. The building doesn't have a lot of amenities, but what it lacks in amenities, it makes up for in size, location, and cleanliness. Additionally, the property manager, Juan, is wonderful. He's extremely professional, very attentive, and a super nice guy. The folks at the concierge desk are always very friendly and efficient with your packages, etc. I also love the location. We can walk to Soapstone Valley which leads to Rock Creek Park; and the metro is just a four minute walk. The National Zoo is nearby as well as National Cathedral. The apartment is also very quiet and is priced fairly for D.C. All utilities are included! Garage parking is available too and the garage is extremely clean and well lit. "
